Minister's Thoughts
Now that the nomination of Harriet Miers has been withdrawn (and, hopefully, my thoughts will not be viewed as political), I want to comment on one aspect of this matter. The White House issued a statement referring to her religious faith. Immediately, many Media and political personages complained. Comments were made indicating the need for separation of church and state; of legal opinions being made based solely on the law; etc.
Personally, I want people in public office who rely on prayer and faith when decisions must be made. My ministry is a constant call to persons to depend upon a divine power for guidance in daily living. Actually, I know a judge who prays prior to taking the bench; asking God to help him.
Why are so many in our society afraid of religious expressions?
